Bringing Nashville event space The Cordelle to life was a significant, and inspiring undertaking. Located in historic Rutledge Hill, the original structure — an 1880s Victorian home — was badly damaged in a fire, then abandoned, leaving it in a pronounced state of neglect. The Powell team’s vision — creating a space that combined past and present, bridging history and setting the stage for new memories and moments — required a total interior demolition, and sensitive renovation. A new steel frame was inserted to save and support the original brick walls, and saw-marked, locally sourced wood was brought in to replace damaged flooring, while maintaining the historic aesthetic. The overall palette stays restrained, with warm white paint and simple black railings and fixtures, to offer clients a compelling, clean slate for their events. With the completion of the restoration and a rear addition, the home was transformed into a classic and cool setting for weddings, parties, creative and corporate events and more.  Photography by: Heidi Ross Photography
